I bought them to cut 3mm fencing wire which they do easily, they feel well made I wouldn’t say that they are suitable for heavy industrial applications anything above 4mm and i think they would struggle.

Well made and cut through mattress springs with ease. They are a bit heavy, but they have to be for strength. Very well priced considering the quality. I am pleased with my purchase.

I needed to get into my shed that had the padlocks seized solid. These cutters made short work of getting them off, which has made me get some better padlocks to replace them! Well worth adding this to my tool box.

Initially I was looking at much more expensive Bolt cutters after reading and researching to find the best. The ones I nearly bought were over £100. But then I had a brainwave. Why not buy the cheapest to do the job in hand and return them when they break? At under £15 including postage I was expecting them to fall apart after the first cut of 4mm hard chain if they cut at all. Now I'm not strong. My arms resemble spaghetti but to my surprise I cut through the 4mm chain like a hot knife through butter. Completely through the whole link so two cuts at once! I did this multiple times and the blades show absolutely no signs of being used at all. These cutters are solid. One thing to note (not a complaint) I adjusted the alignment of the blades before I attempted to cut anything as they were slightly off on arrival. I'd thoroughly recommend this for an easier cut and for the longevity of the blades. It's easy to do and there are videos on YouTube if you are unfamiliar with the process. The cutters didn't come with instructions. I am delighted with my purchase and doubt more expensive cutters could do any better.

Works for small chains, locks, wire fences.Did not work for thicker bars

I believe it is important to put some context to my review, as it helps other buyers to make informed decisions... So firstly why and what for? I was looking for something to break a padlock. Not a big one, I admit, one of those small ones that go on travel suitcases - but nevertheless a good quality one. Hardened steel shackle, about 2mm to 3mm thick. The 4 digit combination had failed me at a most inopportune moment - when requested by airport officials to retrieve some documents, and never released its grip on the contents of my case ever since... but that is another story '. So after looking around Amazon for something suitable (I admit I am one who always goes through the negative reviews in detail) I cautiously settled for this one. I also admit I was not expecting a lot out of it, but boy was I surprised! I am a big lad, at 5' 11" I'm conscious my body strength is above average. Even giving allowance for this, I was surprised... Half a second is all it took, the final outcome being padlock and shackle split into two, completely EFFORTLESS. '' What more can I say?Edit: I am making this additional comment 11 months later. I am now certain this item has paid for itself...I had a super king mattress in an upstairs bedroom of my house (with an awkward staircase) that needed disposing; and given it was an extremely heavy one, there was no way I could bring it downstairs without at least chopping it in half. I took this cutter to the internal metal-rod frames and wire links - and yet again, I wasn't disappointed. But it was demanding work - the metal rod frame (say, 5mm thick) was pretty difficult to get through, but not impossible. It required an intense initial squeeze at which point the blades would "burst" through the rods with a bang. Many exhausting "bursts" and "bangs" later, the frame was down to 1 metre pieces, and the mattress's soft fabric could be chopped up using a scissors...Lesson learnt: Mattress frames are made from harder metal than padlocks :-)
