Half a mousepad
Now, I can't speak for tracking of this mouse with any mouse, but instead when used in conjunction with a Razer Lachesis laser mouse. This mousepad has amazing tracking, so long as you only want to ever to horizontal movements.Throw in the desire to move from the bottom of your screen to the top, and you find that your cursor just wants to stay exactly where it is. Move the mouse really quickly, and you get a jerking motion up. Horizontal tracking is smooth as butter, vertical tracking.... well, let's just say a piece of cardboard makes a better mousepad than this.Go tear off half a cereal box and save yourself 50 dollars. What a joke.Update: tested this pad out with a cheapo Logitech optical mouse, and it works well enough. But then, you have to ask yourself, if you're using a 5 dollar mouse that tracks on just about any surface, why buy a mousepad at all, let alone this one. Product assessment stands. Product does not work as advertised with manufacturer's own mice.

Razer fan sorely dissapointed :/
Let me preface with:I am a heavy gamer and that is the reason I purchase razer products.I can only attest to their mice, but I have owned 2deathadders, a naga, and a mamba. The megasoma mousepad was probably a 4/5 mousepad until the top coat surface started etching away creating sticky spots. Now the mousepad is a 1/5 if even that. It's better to play on my bare desk than to use the megasoma :/ because my mouse catches in those spots.

Great mousepad for non gamers.
After 6 months of use, the mouse does not glide anymore. I tried cleaning it first with a microfiber cloth, then with some water and finally with a mild soap. It is just no good anymore.Mouse does not glide because the surface is sticky... pretty much like the back of the pad. The coating that the pad had is now visible only on the edges but not in the middle where I need it. For gamers a durable gaming surface is a must so I recommend you get the Ironclad instead which is Razer's aluminum gaming pad. For non-gamers this mousepad would be a viable option.5 star craftsmanship as can be expected from Razer.5 star looks particularly on the glow area.5 star comfortability and mouse glide.1 star durability if used intensely.

Great for casual gamers and office work
I'm a grad student, and that translates to hours of sitting in front of a computer and skimming dozens of articles a day. I bought this mousepad because my Razer Kabuto was shredded after years of use. Here is my breakdown of this padLooks: 5/5 - This thing looks slick. I haven't seen that glow in the dark emblem, and I really have no intention to. I love the translucent white.Durability: 4/5 - After reading several reviews I know that this is the area where most people would disagree with me. I am a casual gamer, probably playing about 10 hours a week. Like I stated before, I do a lot of research on the computer and Ineed a mousepad that holds up. After 3 months this mousepad has no signs of wear. I have seen professional gamers play, and there is no way that this, or any mousepad really, can hold up to the abuse that they put it through, but it works well for what I have been doing.Comfort: 4/5- Yes, different mousepads have different feel. I have the Razer Vespula and Kabuto. Of the three mousepads I have I feel that the Megasoma is the most comfortable on the wrist and arm.Overall: 4/5- I can't complain about this mouse. I love the look and feel of it. The silicone-type base sticks and the semi-rough texture gives enough resistance for precision tracking. I like it a lot.

If you own a Razer mouse + spend over 4 hours on comp/day, get this!
I'm not a gamer -- I'm an office worker. But in a way, gamers and office workers have some similar needs when it comes to computer peripherals...namely, we both spend 6-8 hours a day on the computer. If I'm gonna be mousing for 40 hours a week, why settle for anything less than the best? (this is my philosophy)Crazy as it might sound, the Megasoma - combined with my new Razer Imperator mouse - makes navigating through excel spreadsheets, web pages and powerpoint decks incredibly easy! It is especially helpful in programs like Photoshop, Dreamweaver, etc. which demand precise movements. I feel like this mouse pad could potentially allow me to experience less mousing fatigue at work, which will hopefully lead to an improved work product and a raise. If this does happen, I will certainly post a follow-up to the review.Tracking is spot-on. I've been using just the surface of my laminate wood desk up to now, and now I see what I've been missing. The pad also seems to be extremely durable. Now I've only been using it for a few days at this point, but the material feels like it'll last significantly longer than cloth or "hard" plastic pads. One key point to note: the Megasoma is quiet, smooth and works wonderfully w/ my Razer mouse; however just for kicks I tested it out w/ my old basic Microsoft Optical Mouse and it didn't work quite as well. The pad was "louder" and had much more friction w/ the MS Mouse. So I'd caution that you only buy the Megasoma if you own a Razer mouse...since this pad is clearly optimized for their mice (mouses, moosen?).By the way, this mouse pad is also quite the conversation piece - which wasn't my main reason for purchasing it -- but is a welcome side benefit indeed!

Just terrible for Mac users
Most of the cost of this mat must go into the packaging - which was beautiful. Inside the black bevelled case you will find a bevelled acrylic case and inside that, rolled up, you will find $2 worth of rubber. That your mouse will hate. The mouse fails to track about 15% of the time and the surface is tacky and sticks to the slider things on the bottom of the apple mouse. If I was allowed to give this product minus ten thousand stars I probably wouldn't go that far but it certainly doesn't deserve even one if this product is designed for a optical mouse.

Quality piece of material, but there are imperfections.
First, as always, Razer puts effort into their products. Nonetheless I give this product a 2/5 and regret purchasing it.The Good: the mousemat is made of solid material, feels great, and even the packaging is nice looking. The Bad: only comes in white. Spiral does not glow in the dark. (For some reason I was under the impression it was supposed to. Shrug.)The Ugly: The spiral pattern flecks off and even prior to doing so your optical laser will not read properly on it. So that rules out the top right third of the mat. *Mine (ordered from Amazon) came with an even nastier defect -- there was a cut, horizontally, across the middle which tracks improperly when my mouse glides over it causing a reading error and the mouse flicks to the bottom of the screen uncontrollably. This was there out of the box, and renders the mousemat completely unusable for day-to-day computer, nevermind gaming.Needless to say that's $49 I'll never see again.
