Uptight FBI Special Agent Sarah Ashburn (Sandra Bullock) and foul-mouthed Boston cop Shannon Mullins (Melissa McCarthy) couldn't be more incompatible. But when they join forces to bring down a ruthless drug lord, they become the last thing anyone expected: buddies. Review: The Heat is a great movie. - Prim and Proper by the rules Sarah meets foul mouthed Shannon who ignores rules to get the job done her way and this ignites the fuse bringing the two immediately in conflict with one another. Sandra Bullock (Sarah Ashburn) portrays a very clever FBI agent with an uncompromising attitude who is at odds with her co-workers. She appears to know-it-all and lets those around her be aware of exactly how she feels. Cracking her last case and feeling pretty smug about it, she hears about a promotion in the works. When she asks about this, she is given the opportunity for the promotion and all she has to do is go to Boston and bring down a drug lord’s operation as well as him and his accomplices. Being the person she is, this is a piece of cake to her as she sets off to do just that. She feels she can do this quickly & without difficulty. However she did not know she was going to fun into the Boston Cop, portrayed by Melissa McCarthy (Shannon Mullins) From the moment she took Shannon’s parking space she is in for a very rude awakening on how things work in Boston. Shannon is also alienated from her co-workers and will not work with anyone else. She is abusive and will not take guff from anyone. Their meeting is explosive. Though they cannot stand one another they agree to work together on the case. Thus begins the great acting talents of Sandra and Melissa. This is one of the most hilarious movies I have seen in a long time. Good Story and great acting. Though they begin as enemies, they become great friends. Sandra’s character loosens up and begins to enjoy life. The two women work the case wonderfully and as they do, there is a lot of laughs. I enjoy Sandra Bullock’s acting and also Melissa McCarthy. They are both fantastic in what they do. The Heat is terrific and I will watch it many times. I was sitting in my front room and out of nowhere came bits of this movie and I found myself chuckling as I envisioned some of the antics of these two women. Review: The Heat - "The Heat" is a great movie that I find myself watching time and again. While the language may not be suitable for all audiences, the incredible chemistry between the two lead actors steals the show. The dynamic between them adds a perfect blend of humor and camaraderie, making the movie thoroughly enjoyable. I love how they play off each other and their styles of getting the bad guy. What sets this film apart for me is the portrayal of strong women roles. The characters are not only hilarious but also empowering, showcasing that women can lead in action-packed comedies with finesse. The humor, combined with the strong performances, makes "The Heat" a great watch. Overall, a fantastic movie that I highly recommend for those looking for a good laugh and empowering character dynamics, especially the bar scene:)

Funniest movie I've seen in a long time.
I love Sandra Bullock, and while I never saw Bridesmaids, had seen Melissa McCarthy in Identity Thief (in which she was hysterical). This movie was laugh-out-loud, miss part of the movie you're laughing so hard funny. I saw it four times in the theater with different girlfriends, who all loved it. I had hesitated to take my husband, due to the abundance of F-bombs, but ended up taking him, too, and he loved it. There were two little white-haired ladies sitting two rows in front of us who also seemed to get a real kick out of the movie. The premise and plot of the movie was sound, giving a great framework for Bullock and McCarthy, who played off each other very well. I continually admire the smart roles Bullock picks, and she didn't go wrong here, letting this movie be more of a platform for McCarthy's comedic talent while Bullock played the "straight man." As a woman, I appreciate that Bullock doesn't mind taking roles that play down her looks - she doesn't always have to be stunning. Here, she's great as the uptight by-the-book FBI Agent with relational issues and a perfect foil for McCarthy. McCarthy's performance is sheer genius, bringing to life what could have been a very two-dimensional character. A cop who does things her own way, yet hides a mushy heart under a very prickly exterior. The plot involves problems that put her family in danger - a family who would make the Griswalds look angelic by comparison - and McCarthy showed her acting chops in these parts. She's more than just funny. Of course, her funny is what steals the show and makes this a movie where the jokes don't get old no matter how many times you watch. If foul language bothers you, you might want to give this a pass, though that's really personal preference and the only critique of the movie. It didn't bother me, but I'm inured to the f-word at this point. I liked how it added to McCarthy's dialogue and wouldn't change a thing. It's a plot that's been done before, many many times, yet Bullock and McCarthy are able to give it a fresh spin. It was refreshing to see a female-bonding movie that was funny and still real. In the hands of lesser actors, this script wouldn't have been nearly as good a movie. As it is, it's definitely in my top five funniest movies I've ever seen.

A bit over the top raunchy, but funny.
